Chuck Hulin received his BA in
psychology from Northwestern University in 1958 and his Ph.D. in industrial/organizational
psychology from Cornell University in 1963. He has been at Illinois since 1962. He has
joint appointments at the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations and the Aviation
Institute at Illinois. He was Associate Head, Department of Psychology, 1973-1975; Head,
Department of Pilot Training, Institute of Aviation, 1991 - 1994. He is a co-author of
four research books and is currently editing a book on applications of computational
modeling in organizational research. He has published in the areas of job attitudes and
job behaviors, sexual harassment in work organizations, temporary workers, computational
modeling, and methods of evaluating translations of psychological scales into foreign
languages. He was associate editor of the Journal of Applied Psychology from 1975
to 1982. He has been a masthead editor of Organizational Psychology and Human Decision
Processes since 1972. He received the Ghiselli Award for Excellence in Research
Design in 1989 and 1997. He received the Career Scientific Contributions Award from the
Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology in 1997. He is a multi-engine,
instrument airplane flight instructor (CFI, MEI) and has his commercial single-engine
seaplane rating.
